Privacy Policy

The short version: Transcriber Voices (“Transcriber”) does not collect, upload, sell or share any of your data. Your voice is transcribed by on-device AI on your iPhone, and your notes are stored only on your iPhone. Your voice is never sent to an AI server.

What the app does with your voice

When you dictate, the app uses your iPhone’s microphone and turns your speech into text with an on-device AI speech model (OpenAI Whisper) that is built into the app and runs entirely on your iPhone. No AI service, cloud or server is involved. The audio is kept in memory only until it has been transcribed and is then discarded. It is never saved as a recording and never sent anywhere.

Live translation

In the Translate tab, the on-device AI first writes down what it hears, as above. That text is then translated on your iPhone by Apple’s Translation framework, which is part of iOS. The app does not send your speech or text to us or to any server. The translation language files are downloaded once from Apple through iOS’s own download prompt, and Apple’s handling of that download is covered by Apple’s privacy policy. After that, translation works offline.

Your notes

Notes are stored locally on your iPhone, inside the app. We have no server and cannot see, access or recover your notes. If your iPhone is backed up to iCloud or a computer, your notes are included in that backup like other app data, under Apple’s terms. Deleting a note removes it from the app; deleting the app removes all of its notes from your iPhone.

What we don’t do

No account or sign-in.
No analytics, advertising or tracking, and no third-party SDKs that collect data.
No collection of contacts, location, identifiers or usage data.
The app works without an internet connection (translation needs a one-time language download from Apple).

Permissions

Microphone: needed to hear what you dictate. You can turn it off anytime in Settings › Transcriber. Live Activities: optional; they show a timer and stop button on your Lock Screen while you dictate, and are created on your iPhone only.

Children

The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
